Students Widen Their Horizons at New Downtown School
When GEMS World Academy (GWA) - Chicago opened its doors on September 3, the faculty and staff weren’t the only ones to welcome junior kindergarten through sixth grade students to school. Within the first week, GWA - Chicago’s students were already meeting and collaborating with their counterparts throughout the GEMS international network of schools, thanks to video conferencing technology in every classroom.
GWA's First Graders: Making Innovative Connections with Switzerland
Since opening its doors just a month ago, GEMS World Academy-Chicago has already proven to be a premier U.S. school in pioneering a global education. Today, GWA-Chicago showcased an innovative classroom demonstration called “A Connected Learning Project” in an international teleconference between first graders at GWA-Chicago and GWA-Etoy, Switzerland.
GEMS World Academy - Chicago offers Junior Kindergarten through 12th grade students opportunities to collaborate with their peers globally, and engage with professionals and cultural institutions in the heart of Chicago. Frequent field studies are foundational to the school’s curriculum, which is a blend of an international program of studies and GEMS Education’s core values: Global Citizenship, Pursuing Excellence, Leadership through Innovation, and Growing by Learning.
