GEMS World Academy Chicago is hosting a unique day camp designed to keep children's minds and bodies active during the warm summer months.
Camp GEMS runs June 18 through July 27. It will offer a mix of activities modeled on our school's International Baccalaureate curriculum framework. The activities will be led by GEMS teachers and outside professionals.
Each week of the camp will focus on a specific theme. Campers will spend one week, for example, on activities that relate to the Amazon rainforest, while spending another week exploring the theater scene in Chicago. There will be cooking activities, architecture tours, trips to city parks and opportunities for storytelling during the camp's six-week run.
“I’m excited about this because it’s something unique in the Chicago area,” said Camp Co-Director (and GEMS Grade 4 teacher) Laura McCammack. “The camp provides a snapshot of our IB program, and it will make full use of the amazing city of Chicago. The wide range of activities we have planned is impressive."
